Van Sellers

Van Myrs Sellers, age 88 of County Line Rd, Kings Mountain, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at his residence.  He was a native of Gaston County, born on December 13, 1933, son of the late Laura Elminer Sellers and the grandson of the late Hiram S. Sellers.  He was veteran of the United States Navy.  Van retired as an English teacher and went on to own and operate Iron Gate Gardens, specializing in Daylilies and Hosta.  He received National Recognition for his hybridizing and received numerous awards from the American Daylily Society.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dankie S. Orlandi.

Survivors include his partner of 42 years, Vic Santa Lucia; and sister, Peggy S. Leonard.
