Ruth Poston

Ruth Wood Poston, age 85, of Anthony Grove Road, passed away Monday November 23, 2020 at Peak Resources of Cherryville. She was born New Year’s Day, 1935 in Cleveland County to the late William Junie and Brunie Green Wood.

Ruth was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, doing puzzles, playing Bingo, and was an avid reader. She also loved to talk.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Poston; brother, Charles Wood; sister, Lucille Ritchie; and grandson, Keith Kerley.

She is survived by her sons, Ed Poston (Lynn), Ted Poston, and Steve Poston (Pam); daughters, Jane Bumgarner (Michael), and Jean Morgan; sister, Dot Dellinger (Roy); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Poston will Lie-In-State from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday, November 27, 2020 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services, Cherryville.

A Graveside Service, officiated by Pastor Amy Vaughan, will be held at 2 pm Friday, November 27, 2020 at Marvin United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lincolnton.
