Myrtle Mauney Clark, formerly of Puett’s Chapel Road, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.  She was born on August 21, 1924 in Gaston County to the late William and Beulah Metcalf Mauney.  As a lifelong member of Hephzibah ARP Church, Myrtle’s voice filled the choir, and her faith was exemplary to all. Myrtle’s gentle spirit and selflessness led to many friendships over the years.  As a resident at White Oak Manor, her kind demeanor won the affection of many staff members.  Myrtle was an avid reader and cherished her family. Always willing to prioritize others’ needs before her own, she served as caregiver to family members, volunteered in a nursing home, and became a role-model for her daughter and granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ross Clark; and siblings, Carl Mauney, Lois Neill, Robert Mauney, Thelma Propst, James Mauney, and Ava Anthony.

Survivors include her daughter, Renee Clark Whisenant and husband, Dan; granddaughter, Kimberly Whisenant Carpenter and husband, Michael; great granddaughter, Claudia Bryte Carpenter (given her middle name in honor of Myrtle’s middle name prior to marriage); sister, Betty Price; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Hephzibah ARP Church Cemetery.
