Janice White

Janice Mattie Loftis White, age 74 of Cherryville, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at her daughter’s residence.  She was born June 9, 1946 in Swain County to the late Faxton “Bud” Loftis and the late Eula Mae Barker Loftis.  Janice loved flowers and gardening.  She enjoyed fishing and animals and was an excellent cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Loftis, Valerie Gates, and Randy Loftis.

Survivors include her children, David Smith (Diane), Lisa Lynn Smith (Gregory), and Paula “PJ” Bell (Jeff); husband, Joel White; stepsons, Richard Payne (Shannon) and Thomas Payne (Lynn); brothers, Danny Loftis (Michele) and Jerry Loftis (Paula); sisters-in-law, Margaret Loftis Barnette and Darlene Loftis; brother-in-law, Sid Gates; best friend, Phyllis Thompson; grandchildren, Jennifer Sparks, Brittany Allison, Kristy Lawson, Shyanne Smith, Dustin Caldwell, Joshua Wyatt, and Danielle Gilliland; great grandchildren, Anna, Cayden, Tristan, Lily, Hunter, Dalton, Mattie, Abigail, and Graylynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating.  Burial will be private.  A time of remembrance will be held directly following the service.  Please observe social distancing and face covering guidelines.
