James Thompson

James Bufford Thompson, age 77, of Ray Street, passed away Sunday January 5, 2020 at Robin Johnson House. He was born Cleveland County to the late James Eugene and Bonnie Edna Craig Thompson.

James was a veteran of the United States National Guard. He loved gardening and could grow anything. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and talking. James never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Rayburn Thompson, and his grandson, Andrew Thompson.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Bryan Thompson (McKenzie Wright) of Cherryville; grandchildren, Ethan Thompson, Austin Thompson, Timothy “T.J.” Thompson, Zander Wright, Kassie Thompson, and Zaylii Wright; great-grandchildren; Mason Carter Pruitt, Jaxson Sage Thompson, and Aubrey Grace McCowan; the mother of their son, Patrice Murray Thompson; sister, Nancy Stallings (Larry); brother, Hubert Thompson (Judy).

His family will receive friends from 3 to 5pm Friday January 10, 2020 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.

Burial will be private.
