Gi Koontz

Georgeina “Gi” Marie Daney Koontz, age 61, of Ballard Street, passed away Friday August 6, 2021 at Robin Johnson Hospice House. She was born September 15, 1959, in Johnstown, PA to the late Charles and Georgeina McTaggart Daney.

Gi loved being surrounded by people. Her favorite pastime was family game night, and a good cup of coffee. She loved her dogs Chance, Cody, and Maxie. Gi also enjoyed traveling with her family. She had a passion for guiding addicts through the recovery process. For the past 25 years Gi has worked in the substance abuse field, and for the last decade she was blessed to be able to work at Phoenix Counseling Center where she had many friends who she considered family.

Gi was preceded in death by her brother, Dave Evans; and sister-in-law, Maryann Evans.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Plummer, Jr., Amanda Buchanan (Brian); stepdaughters, Miranda Koontz, and Brooke Koontz; husband, Rick Koontz; brothers, Bill Evans, Rick Evans (Karen); sister-in-law, Ann Evans; grandchildren, Kaylie Plummer, Jaycie Plummer, Brady Buchanan, Chloe Buchanan, and Madalyn Boothe.

A celebration of Gi’s life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45am prior to the service at the Church.

Burial will be private.
