Carl Avery

January 3, 1926 — September 11, 2019

Carl Lendel Avery, 93 of Dallas Cherryville Hwy, died Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 3, 1926 in Gaston County to the late Luther Wince and Nancy Rebecca Payne Avery.  He was a member of Puett United Methodist Church and retired from Carolina Freight. Mr. Avery was a WWII Veteran who served in the United States Army. He had a passion for traveling and camping and was a NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Laura Lee Willis Avery; daughter, Donna A. Neill; son-in-law, Don Neill, and daughter-in-law, Judy Avery.

Survivors include his son, Mike Avery of Crouse; and granddaughter, Andrea Neill of Dallas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday September 14, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Cherryville with Rev. Zack Christy officiating.

His family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Puett United Methodist Church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 601 N Pink St, Cherryville, NC 28021.
