Ada Mae Schronce Slaughter, age 85, of Ray St. passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at Atrium Health, Lincoln. She was born August 1, 1934 in Lincoln County to the late Russell and Mae Armstrong Schronce. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and the grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Slaughter; son, Wally Slaughter; and sister, Alma Mace.
Survivors include her children, Joseph “Rick” Black Jr. and wife, Rena, Diana Abernathy and husband, Ronnie; Nelson Black and wife, Bonnie, Ricky Black and wife, Lana, Rodney Lee Slaughter, and Chris Slaughter and wife, Misty; daughter-in-law, Nancy Slaughter; siblings, Ruth Rhyne, Wilma Stamey, and Glenn Schronce and wife, Carolyn; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 23, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
