Glenn Thomas Spake, 78, of Devinney Rd., died Sept. 15, 2011 at the Hospice Home, Kings Mountain.
He was born in Cleveland Co. on Feb. 18, 1933 a son of the late Charles and Ruth Hamilton Spake. Mr. Spake was a retired painter with Charlotte Paint Co., veteran of the US Army and a child of God.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Charles Spake, Jr., Jimmie Spake, Margaret Ross, and Helen Harvey, and a granddaughter Amanda Spake.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Gertrude Boston Spake, son Tom Spake and wife Jan of Lyman, SC, daughter Debbie Floyd and companion Harold Moore of Waco, four grandchildren Amy Brady of Waco, Brad and Amy Spake of Morganton, Trey and Amanda Kutta of Lyman, SC, and Christina Shaw of Shelby, seven great grandchildren Nick, T.J., Camden, Grayson, Chance, Riley and Jacob, three brothers Bill and Dolly Spake of Fallston, David Spake of Bessemr City, and Harold Spake of Summerville, SC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating with burial in Sunset Cemetery, Shelby. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-1:45 PM at the funeral home and other times at the home.
