Thomas Andrew George, 74 of 509 Roy Eaker Rd., died Sunday August 22, 2010 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Mr. George was born on August 7, 1936 in Gaston Co. a son of the late William “Bill” and Lily Witherspoon George. He was a veteran of the US Army, member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and retired dockworker for Carolina Freight Carriers with over 30 years of service.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Coleman George, sister Sylvia Dellinger and two brothers Charles and Bob George.
Survivors include his daughter Luandra G. McNeely and husband Brent of Cherryville, step son Steve Hoyle and Wife Pam of Holiday, Fla., four grandchildren, Jordan and Zack McNeely, Stevie Hoyle and Mindy Dyson, three great grandchildren and caregiver Dana Proctor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Key officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the Carpenter’s from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
