Dr. Theodore Chester Paige, Sr., Age 88 of 201 West Academy Street, Cherryville, NC died Friday, August 12 at Carolina Care Center, Cherryville, NC. Dr. Paige was born on May 12, 1923 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., the son of Stephen Andrew Pogodzinski and Celia Glatkoski Pogodzinski. He was a doctor of Optometry in Cherryville for over 40 years, a devout member of the First Baptist Church, a deacon, a member of the church choir for over 40 years, Lion’s Club, American Legion Post 100 member, Veteran of WW II, US Army Air Corp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Cameron Rupard.
Surviving: Wife: Isabelle Cameron Morrison Paige, of the home, Son: Theodore C. “Ted” Paige, Jr. and wife Pam of Gastonia, N. C., daughter: Betsy P. Rupard and husband Jack, of Cherryville. Three Grandchildren: Kevin Andrew Dean and wife Carolina Dean of Knoxville, Tenn., Tracy Cameron Dean of Tampa, Fla. And Katherine Stewart Paige of Greenville, S. C.
The family will receive friends August 14th, 2011 from 1:45 to 2:45 in the First Baptist Church sanctuary prior to the service at 3:00PM with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot of the City Memorial Cemetery.
