Thelma Beamguard Hoyle, 90, of 111 Harrilson Rd. died Tuesday Feb. 17, 2009 at Carolina Care Center.

She was born on July 4, 1918 in Cherryville a daughter of the late John McGinnis and Litha Dellinger Beamguard. Mrs. Hoyle was a retired bookkeeper from Carolina Freight Carriers with over 27 years service. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a volunteer at Meals on Wheels.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death a brother Kenneth Beamguard.

Survivors include two daughters Catherine H. Hamlin and Bobbie Hoyle both of Gastonia, a son John Michael Hoyle of New Orleans, sister Johnnie Hamrick of Cherryville, three grandchildren Stephanie Queen and husband Gary of Cherryville, Benjamin Bame and wife Stephanie of Cherryville and Talitha Jarrell of Vale and five great grandchildren Lauren Flynn, Jocelyn and Amelia Queen and Gage and Mason Jarrell.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 1 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the services.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to UNC School of Medicine, Campus Box 7520, Chapel Hill, NC 27599 where her body was donated.
