Everet “Ted” Terry Workman, Sr., 87, of 1425 E. Marion St., Shelby , formerly of Cherryville, died Monday March 29, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Ted was born on July 31, 1922 in Davidson Co. a son of the late Ollie and Maggie Nance Workman. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Cherryville where he was past president of the Young at Hearts, retired General Overseer with Burlington Industries with 38 years of service. Mr Workman was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army Air Corp with two oversea tours of duty serving in New Guinea and the Phillipine Islands, and a member of Masonic Lodge #505 AF & AM where he was a Master Mason for 63 years and received his Masonic Diamond Jubilee Award.
Mr. Workman was a devoted husband to his late wife Evelyn who died April 17, 2009 and a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his children Myra Dixon and husband Scoot, of Boiling Springs, Janet Berry and husband John Stalzer of Shelby and “Chip” Workman and wife Janet of Boiling Springs, grandchildren Carol Fisher Atkins and husband Frank of Atlanta, GA., Kimberly Workman and Brandon Workman both of Boiling Springs, Heather Dixon of Columbus, Ohio, and Chris Dixon and wife Farrah of Cornelius, NC , three great grandchildren Megan Atkins and Campbell and Kenan Dixon, nieces Patty Crook of Lexington, Mary Tuhterow, Christine Edwards, and Barbara Benge all of Union Grove.
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 1, 2010 at First United Methodist Church at 3 PM with Rev. Rick Fite and Rev. Jim Pyatt officiating with burial in City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 2-3 PM
