Ralph Ted Beam, 69, of 706 Requa Rd., died February 24, 2010 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.

Ted was born in Gaston Co. on June 12, 1940 a son of the late Garth and Alma Dellinger Beam. He was as retired textile machinist and a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters Amy Beam Mayes and Lori Beam Burleson and husband Vince, both of Cherryville, three grandchildren Aaron Mayes, Garrett and Hayden Burleson, and a brother Gary Beam and wife Mary, of Cherryville, mother of his children Linda Wacaster of Cherryville, two nieces Mary Leslie Eaker and husband Eric and Anna Beam and husband Michael Harrill, both of Cherryville and great niece Addie Eaker..

Funeral services will be held Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 3 PM  with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from !:30-2:45 PM and at other times at the home.
