Sybil Inez Carpenter Davis, age 68, a Cherryville Native, of Gastonia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia. She was the daughter of the late Yates and Mozelle George Carpenter, born December 1, 1942,formerly employed by Firestone Mills Gastonia for 16 years. A caring, loving wife, mother and grandmother and sister, she was preceded in death by her parents and husband, T. R. Davis, and a brother, Don Carpenter.
Survivors include her children Scott Davis and wife Michelle of Gastonia, Kimberly Davis Bumgardner and husband Andy of Blacksburg, SC and Todd Davis of Bessemer City, four grandchildren: Tara Charbonneau, Brian Davis, Amanda McWhirter and Jonathan Davis, four great grandchildren: Kara Ellis, Mallory Charbonneau, Logan Cape, Alec Charbonneau and Ansleigh McWhirter. Sisters and husband: Marcie McClure, Kay and Danny Waddell, all of Gastonia, a very special niece: Vanessa Henderson of Forrest City.
Funeral services will be conducted in Crowder’s Mountain Baptist Church, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 2:00PM, with Rev. Larry Laws officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 25 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville.
