Grief Loss Recovery Program

Your journey from mourning to joy

Loss of a Loved One

Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult issues we will ever have to face.  Grieving is a natural part of losing someone close to you.  Many people feel such intense emotional pain following a death that they wonder if they can survive.  The grief process is like a journey from the starting point of bereavement to a new life.  Progress is made through grief as the feelings are worked through.  This journey can take you from mourning into JOY as the pain eases and memories are treasured.

Carpenter's Funeral Home cares about you needs AFTER the funeral.  As a part of our After Care Program, we provide a Grief Loss Recovery Program that can assist you in this journey.  A group of Caring people can provide the help you need as you grieve the loss of a family member or friend.

Practical Suggestions:

If you are having difficulty coping with the impact of a death in your life, you might find these suggestions helpful.

Find caring friends and relatives who will listen without judging and talk to them about the person who has died.

Talk about your feelings.

Postpone major decisions for the first year.  Changes such as moving or remarrying may add to your stress.

Focus on at least one planned activity each day.

Keep in touch with your physician and make the doctor aware of your situation.

Remember that you body will need extra rest and balanced meals.

Recognize that feelings of shock, anger, guilt, relief, depression, and acceptance are normal reactions experienced when a death occurs.

Record your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a journal or diary.

Attend support groups.  Allow yourself to network with others who have "been there".

Honor your feelings.

Be patient with yourself.

Treasure your memories ... they are gifts of the heart.
