Clarence Roy Dellinger, 88, of Johnstown Rd., died October 19, 2010 at Carolina’s Specialty Hospital, Charlotte.

 

Mr. Dellinger was born on Feb. 11, 1922 a son of the late William Clarence and Lavada Shuford Dellinger. He was a retired mailman and self employed electrician for many years and a graduate of Waco High School Class of 1940. Roy was a faithful and longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a member of the Hugh Helms Sunday School Class. He proudly served his country in the US Army in the South Pacific during WW II.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Yoder Trunmire Dellinger, two brothers Paul and Hervey Dellinger and a sister Bertha Kewley.

 

Survivors include his loving daughter Julia Ann Neal and husband Allen Austin of Charlotte, granddaughter Annie Swink and husband Staff Sgt. Joshua Swink of Columbia, SC,  step grandson Daniel Austin of Charlotte, two great grandchildren  Caleb Roy Swink and Layla Swink, brother Glenn Dellinger of Cherryville and a Aunt Valeria Hallman of Lawndale.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 2 PM with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
