Ralph Arnold Graven, age 85, of summit place, kings mountain, nc and formerly of Cherryville, n. c. and akron, ohio, Died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at kings mountain hospital. he was a native of akron, ohio, born october 1, 1923, the son of the late don h. graven and williard marie parsons graven. he was a member of the first baptist church, cherryville, nc. a verteran of us army wwii, and a retired supervisor of office equiptment, goodyear tire and rubber company of akron, ohio. he was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 60 years, mrs. susan may fox graven and two brothers, don graven, and Buell graven.
survivors: two sons: frank a. graven and wife, connie, of barberton, ohio. andrew a. graven and wife, susan of charlotte, nc; two daughters: margaret G. sizer and husband, danny and nancy a. downey and husband, earl, of rock hill, sc; four grandchildren; kara beth downey, collin downey, tina kneisel and tami dietz; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday, August 14, 2009 at the first baptist church, cherryville , burial will follow in the cherryville city memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 at the church.
