Mildred Black, age 93 of 111 Harrelson Road died December 26, 2011 at her residence .  Mildred was born August 23, 1918 in Catawba County, NC a daughter of the late Clem and Maude Hoyle Cooke.  She was retired with forty years of service from Carlton Yarn Mill, Cherryville.
 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Black, two sisters Helen Boyles and Christine Boyles, and two brothers Paul and Jay Cooke.
 
Survivors include her two sons, Terry Black of Cherryville and Jerry Black and wife Pat of York, SC, and several nieces and nephews
 
Funeral services will be held at  2 PM  Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Lowe and Dr. Vince Hefner officiating with burial to follow in City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wed at the funeral home from 1-1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
