Matilda Boyles Jarrell, 88, of 700 Self St., formerly of Kent St., died Sept. 27, 2010 at Peak Resources.

Mrs. Jarrell was born in Gaston Co., on April 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Claude and Ollie Parker Boyles. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother,  and a homemaker .

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Jarrell in 1974, a son Kenneth Jarrell, and 2 granddaughters, a grandson, brother Herschel Boyles and a sister Beulah Smith.

Survivors include her son Mike Jarrell and wife Nancy of Cherryville, twin daughters Kay Poovey and husband Gene of Lincolnton and Fay Pittman of Cherryville, daughter  in law Diane Jarrell Haynes of Lincolnton, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a sister Marie Hastings of Cherryville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home on Thursday  with Rev. Robert Gene Poovey II officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30-1:45 PM at the funeral home and at other times of Mike and Nancy Jarrell, 2116 Lincolnton Hwy., Cherryville, NC .

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Foundation.
