Martha Etta Simpson of 612 West Gold Street, died May 10, 2010 at Kings Mountain Hospital. Martha was born December 9, 1937 in Richmond County, NC a daughter of the Late Joe Tate and Madge Eskridge Melton. She was a homemaker and a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death, two brothers, John Wayne Melton and Kenneth Melton, five sisters, Dorothy Martin, Betty Thompson, Sue Hill, Bobbie Berry and Mary Ruth Berry.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Sue Young of Kings Mountain, a brother Billy Melton and wife Gwen of Monroe, Connecticut,
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Noon at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville with Rev. Greg Neely officiating, Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 12, at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. and other times at the home.
