Mark Ray Dixon age 84, died December 17, 2010 at his residence. He
was a native of the Bethany Community, Clover, S.C. and son of the late
Palmon and Emma Belle Davidson Dixon. Mark was retired owner of Dixon’s
Used Cars and Cherryville Auto Electric. He had formerly been employed at Carolina Freight and R& A Tractor Co, in Gastonia. Schooling was in the Bethany Community schools of Clover S.C. Mark was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church having served on various committees and the church council. He served as commander of the VFW Post; Past Governor of the Moose Lodge in Shelby; a member of the
American Legion and Amvets. He served in World
War II stationed in Germany, he was an active member of the Big Red One,
having attended many national conventions.
In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret
Dellinger Dixon, and a daughter, Marka Wilson, great grandson Dillon
O’Deer, three brothers, Hood Dixon, Frank Dixon and Clarence Dixon, one sister Effie Dixon Sipe.
Survivors
include granddaughter, Heather Wilson O’Deer and Brandon, of Iron
Station, Grandson, Mark B. Wilson and Sherry of Lincolnton, great
grandchildren, Kyler Wilson, Hayden Wilson and Devin O’Deer, brothers
Glenn Dixon, of Morganton and Joe Dixon, of Charlotte, sisters, Mildred Hood, Pensacola, Fla. and Amanda Tucker, Charlotte.
Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St.
John’s Lutheran Church with Dr. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Full Military with Post 243. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home .
