Margie Carpenter Beam, 83 of 400 West Academy Street died Sunday May 24, 2009 at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville. She was born February 28, 1926 in Gaston County a daughter of the late Barney and Getty Upton Carpenter. Margie retired from the Dora Mill/Carlton Yarn.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Beam, her daughter Charlotte Heavner and a sister Pat Carpenter.
She is survived by her son Larry Beam of Cherryville, a son-in-law Freddie Heavner of Cherryville, two granddaughters, Wendy Meadows of Cherryville and Stephanie Hamrick of Shelby, three great-grandchildren, Lyndsey Meadows, Caleb Roberts and Cole Hamrick, one sister, Kathleen C. Burgess of Bessemer City, three brothers, John Carpenter of Kings Mountain, “Son” Ben Carpenter of Cherryville, Rob Carpenter of Cherryville.
Funeral Services will be held May 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM at the church prior to the service and at other times at the home of Kathleen Burgess, St. Marks Church Road, Bessemer City.
