Malcolm King Barnhardt, 87, of the Brian Center formerly of Old Concord Salisbury Rd., died July 24, 2009 at his residence.

He was born in Cabarrus Co. on March 21, 1922 a son of the late M. K. and Ollie May Long Barnhardt, Mr. Barhnhardt was a Lutheran, retired building inspector for the City of Charlotte, and veteran of the US Army having served in the Pacific Theater and received five presidential citations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bertha “Becky” Rayfield Barnhardt, brothers Harry and Toledo Barnhardt, sisters Irene Herrin, Ruth Barnhardt and Edith Wagner.

Survived by his son Jimmy King Barnhardt of Dobson, brother Carl Barnhardt of Kannapolis and Charles Barnhardt of Rimmer, sister Patricia Roach of Concord, and Helen Todd of Charolottesville, Va

Graveside services will be held Monday at 3 PM at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City. The family will receive after the services at the cemetery.
