Kelly Franklin Lingerfelt, age 76, of 263 Sellers Road, Kings Mountain, died May 22, 2011 at home. Kelly was a native of Cherryville, born June 24, 1934, the son of the late Preston Alto and Winnie Pearl Huss Lingerfelt. He attended Cherryville High School and was a retired dockworker at Carolina Freight Carriers, Cherryville, working there 23 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Bridges Lingerfelt, a brother Hugh Lingerfelt and a sister, Betty L. McGinnis.
Survivors: His son and daughter in law: Eric and Allison Lingerfelt of Shelby, his daughter; Shelia L. Young of Kings Mountain. Brother: Press Lingerfelt of Cherryville and sister: Sue L. Helms, of Cherryville. Two grandchildren, Joshua Lingerfelt and Lanndon Lingerfelt of Shelby.
Funeral services will be conducted at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10:00AM with Rev. Leonard Bumgarder officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday May 23, at the Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
