Katherine Potter Hovis, 91, of 111 Harrilson Rd., died Thursday March 19, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Hovis was born in Ashe Co. on June 2, 1917 a
daughter of the late James Franklin and Elizabeth Clawson Potter. She
was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church,
Cherryville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Alexander Hovis and six late brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Judy
and Bert Harrell of Morganton, seven grandchildren, Hope Elizabeth
Harrell of Atlanta, GA, Christopher D. Randall of Mechanicsville, VA.,
John Scott Randall and wife Sasha of Atlanta, GA, Diane H. Bordeaux and
husband Jeff of Durham, Robin Harrell of Hastings, NEB, James Taylor
Harrell of Morganton and John Harrell of Morganton, and seven great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at the
First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating with burial to
follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends
Saturday at the church from 12:30-1:45 PM.
