Joy C. Pate Pilkington, 55, of 140 Northview Dorsey St., died November 3, 2010 at Carolina’s Medical Center.
She was born in Rutherford Co. on June 8, 1955 a daughter of Shirley Harris Pate Lawing of Pumpkin Center and the late Eddie Roosevelt Pate. Joy was member of Fork Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills and employed as a CNA at White Oak Manor in Forest City.
In addition to her mother she is survived by two sons Richard Kelly Black and wife Mindy of Cherryville and Timothy Chance Cody of Lincolnton, seven brothers and sisters, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday Nov. 7, 2010 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home at 2:30 PM with Rev. Billy Cogdell officiating with burial in Fork Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Union Mills, NC at 4 PM. The family will receive friends Sunday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 1-2:30 PM and at other times at the 3148 Hgy 150 East, Lincolnton, NC
