John Peter Neill, Sr. age 87, of 124 Tot Dellinger Road, entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, April 10, 2011. He was born June 15, 1923 in Gaston County the son of the Late Charles E. Neill, Sr. and Bertie Roberts Neill. A veteran of US Army, WWII , a member of the First Baptist Church, and retired from Carolina Freight Carriers where he proudly served as a driver , terminal manager at Lowell, N. C. and District Manager.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Sisters: Margaret Hoover, Viva Marsh, Ruth Dellinger and brothers: Ben Neill, Elmer Neill and Dave Neill.
Survivors: Wife of 61 Years, Betty Sue Daves Neill, of the home Sons and Daughters In Law: Carroll Lee and Claudia Neill of Baltimore, Md., Jim and Debra Neill of Gastonia, NC, Pete and Myra Long Neill, of Cherryville, NC, A daughter: Myra Elaine Neill, of Cherryville. Five (5) grandchildren, Five (5) Great Grandchildren. Brother: Charles Neill of Colfax, N. C.
Funeral Services will be conducted at First Baptist Church, Cherryville on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM, The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the church one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner will officiate and burial will be in the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Military honors performed by Cherryville American Post 100.
