John Lewis McSwain, 68 of  1012 McSwain Hill Road, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on September 6, 2010.

 Lewis was born on June 18, 1942 the second eldest to John Moore and Mozelle Dedmond McSwain.

 He was a man of many talents including truck driving, farming, landscaping and paving.  He was the owner of numerous businesses, most recently forming Moon Bar Farms with his grandson.  His love of his family and the outdoors was evident to all who knew him.

 Lewis leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret Moss McSwain, son Dean McSwain and wife Leslie, daughters, Nina McLeymore and husband Darryl, Lisa Dunivan and Husband John, all of Cherryville.  Papaw’s pride and joy grandchildren include Eric, Cassie, Blake, Ben, Veronica, Tyler, Taylor, Lauren, Jonathan, Heather, Lacey and one great-grandchild Zane.   He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Helen Hinson and husband Tom, of Macon, Georgia, Gail Ford and husband Rick, Wanda Hester and husband Luther, and sister-in-law Lavonda McSwain, all of Cherryville.  He also had many nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, mother-in-law Alma Dare Moss, and his brother Eugene McSwain.

 A celebration of life service will be held onThursday, September 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Rev. Wayne Key will be officiating, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Carpenter’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM and other times at the home.

 Pallbearers include, Wesley McSwain, Michael McSwain, Bryan Hinson, Dakota McLeymore, Terry Moss, and Johnny Bridges.
