John Loyd Mauney, 66, of Oak Tree Lane, died Monday October 5, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
John was born on November 5, 1942 in Gaston Co. a son of the late Noah Matthew and Bessie Mae Mauney Mauney. He was a retired postman with the US Postal Service, member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Woodman of the World, the Knights of Pythias, American Legion Post #100, and VFW # 5200, and was a veteran of the US Army.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Robert Mauney.
Survivors include a sister Margie Homesley and husband Don of Cherryville, four brothers Noah “Pete” Mauney and wife Doris, Frank Mauney, William “Bill” Mauney and wife Jane all of Cherryville and Tom Mauney and wife Evelyn of Shelby and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:30-3:45 PM at the funeral home.
