Joan London Allen, 81, of 805 Woodhaven Dr., died Wednesday July 13, 2011 at Carolina Care Center.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1930 in Lincoln County a daughter of the late Lawton Woosley “Dolly” and Mary Irene Houser London. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, choir member and soloist.  Joan deeply loved her church and community.
 
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Harry Hampton Allen, Jr., and  a brother Lawton “Woody” London.
 
Survivors include her daughter Cindy Eaker and husband Eddie of Cherryville, her son Stan Allen and wife Martha of Cherryville, grandchildren Jason Eaker and wife Christy of Lincolnton, Jan Bowser and husband Rod of Ponte Verda Beach, Fla., and Jay Allen of Cherryville, great grandchildren Kiersen and Landrie Eaker.
 
Funeral services will be held Friday at First Baptist Church at 11 AM with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
