J. C. Dellinger, 89, of 600 J. C. Dellinger Rd., died Wednesday Dec.16, 2009 at
his residence.
 
He was born in Gaston co. on February 10, 1920 a son of the late Junius Clarence
and Dona Belle Sellers Dellinger. Mr. Dellinger was a retired brick mason, house
carpenter and farmer having worked at Dixie Lumber. He was also a member of St.
John’s Lutheran Church and a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving during WW
II.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Ann Childers
and Ruby Hubbard and four brothers Harold, Herman, Thomas and Lester Dellinger.
 
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Margie Bookout Dellinger, a daughter
Karen D. West and husband Andy of Cherryville and a son Barry Dellinger and wife
Wanda of Cherryville, four grandchildren Summer Sparrow, Vanessa Hilburn,
Christopher Dellinger and Jonathan West, three great grandchildren Kayley and
Holden Sparrow and Logan Dellinger, brother Max Dellinger and wife Gloria of
Cherryville, three sisters Kay Marks and husband Ken, Lincolnton, Gail Peele and
husband Charley, Lincolnton, and Dorothy Blalock and husband Calvin, Shelby.
 
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11  AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church
Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Robert Allen officiating.  The family will receive
friends at Carpenter’s Funeral Home Friday from 10-10:45 AM and at other times
at the home.
