Janie Ophelia Stroupe, 90, formerly of 3114 Tryon courthouse Rd., died February 23, 2011 at Lincoln Nursing Center.
 
She was born September 1, 1920 in Gaston Co. a daughter of the late John Wilbur and Frances Elizabeth Murray Stroupe. Miss Stroupe was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and retired from Dellinger’s Jewelry.
 
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sisters Beulah Shuford, and Elouise Randall, and brothers Jim, Garland, Russell and Hugh Stroupe.
 
Survivors include two sisters-in-law Naomi Stroupe of Cherryville, and Martha Stroupe of Lincolnton, nieces and nephews Jerry and Rita Stroupe, JoAnn and Gene  Weaver, Johnny and Brenda Stroupe, Janice and Jim Howell, Libby and Don Edwards, and Bobbie and Renee Stroupe, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
 
Graveside services will be held Friday at 4:30 PM at City Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends Friday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 3:30-4:15 PM.
 
In lieu of flowers donation to Hospice of Lincoln Co., 107 N. Cedar St. Lincolnton, NC 28092, or First  Presbyterian Building Fund, 107 West Academy St., Cherryville, NS 28021.
