Janie Sue Scism Broadway, 67, of Cherryville died October 22, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 11, 1943 a daughter of the late Glenn Edward and Margaret Clara Smith Scism. Mrs. Broadway was a retired self employed florist, member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lincolnton, and a member of the first graduating class of West Lincoln High School in 1962. Janie was an avid fisherman, enjoyed flowers and to crochet, but most of all loved to cook. She loved her granddaughter more than anything.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years William Bradford Broadway, son Jeffrey B. Broadway of Cherryville, a daughter Clarissa Carpenter and husband Billy of Cherryville, three granddaughters Maegan Alexis Carpenter-Whiddon, Savanna Brooke Carpenter, and Emily Layne Broadway, a great grandson Brody Lyle Carpenter late brother Jerry Scism and Danny Scism.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 Pm and at other times at the home of Clarissa and Billy Carpenter, 805 Settlers Dr., Cherryville.
