James Larry Howell, Sr. of 715 North Mountain St., departed this life early Sunday morning March 1, 2009.
He was born in Cleveland Co. on Nov. 24, 1960 a son of S. S. and Vernice Collins Howell of Waco, NC. He was employed by Cherryville Distributing, was a member of Second Baptist Church, former kick box and karate instructor and was an avid sports enthusiast.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sons James Larry Howell, Jr., of Indiana, Darius Terrance Howell of the home, two sisters Marcia H. McKissick (Keith) Waco, and Donna H. Charles (Donald) of Gastonia, nephew Ryan Howell, three nieces, Sharika Howell, Shantineya Howell, and Niajah Clark, one great niece Trarika Hunt, three great nephews Travon, Trevor, and Trenton Hunt, and a special cousin and brother Minister Douglas E. Collins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Staton officiating with burial in Macedonia Missionary Baptist Ch. Cemetery. Quiet hour will be from 1-2 Thursday at the Church. The family will be at the home of S.S. and Vernice Howell, 1940 Cherryville Rd..
