Howard Melvin Henkle, age 83, of 208 S. Depot Street, entered in life everlasting with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5, 2010.  Howard was born on January 24, 1927, the son of the late Franklin Alexander and Fannie Pearl Sigmon Henkle.  He was a retired owner of Sanitary Barber Shop, a veteran of US Army, and a Member of First Baptist Church, Cherryville.  Howard played Semi-Pro Baseball with the Detroit Tigers Organization, the Durham Bulls.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Glenn Henkle.
 
Survivors include his wife Ann Perkins Henkle of the home,  son, Richard M. Henkle, of Greensboro, two grandsons: Mark Henkle and Andrew Henkle both of Greensboro,  sister: Mrs. Naomi Henkle Stroupe, of Cherryville. and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Graveside services will be conducted a 3:00PM Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner, Mark Beam, Blair Beam, Randy Heffner and Josh Scism officiating.
 
The family request no flowers and no food, please give to anyone in need in memory of Howard.
