In 2006 Carpenter's Funeral Home of Cherryville was among 184 world-wide and one of only four funeral homes in North Carolina to receive the National Funeral Home Directors Association Pursuit of Excellence Award. Robert Biggens, President of the National Funeral Directors Association, presented the award to John Porter at the NFDA convention on October 17th in Philadelphia, PA.
"The Pursuit of Excellence Program is specifically designed to recognize and commend funeral homes that go above and beyond the standard level of service to families. NFDA Chief Executive Officer, Christine Pepper, CAE, stated, "in addition, these firms show their commitment to leadership in the funeral professions at large by providing continuing education and professional development.
