Herbert Dean Dellinger,  69, of  Lincoln Nursing Center, formerly of 1000 N. Mountain Street, Cherryville died April 3, 2009 at his residence.  Mr. Dellinger was born November 6, 1939 in Lincoln County a son of the Late Brady Herbert Dellinger and Edna Lingerfelt Dellinger Ivester and Stepfather John Ivester.  He was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church and was retired from Dora Yarn with 42 years of service and Dellinger Tree Service.  He was a 25 year member of Hugh’s Pond Fire Department and member of the Traditional New Year’s Shooters.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise McNeily Dellinger in 2006.

Survivors include two sons David Dellinger and wife Pam and Bobby Dellinger,   Vale and a daughter Teresa Dellinger, Lincolnton, two grandchildren Hayley Dellinger, Taylorsville and Allison Dellinger, Vale, and one great grandchild Elijah Dellinger, two step grandchildren Philip and Tyler Harmon, Boone, step brother Hugh Lee Ivester, Vale, sisters, Eunice Black, North Brook and Shirley Eason, North Brook.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday, April 4, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
