Hazel  Gibson Bowman White, 88, of 106 South Oak St., died peacefully September 14, 2010 at Carolina Medical Center-Lincoln.

She was born in Gaston Co. on Jan. 22, 1922 a daughter of the late Will and Sarah Franklin Gibson. She was a member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church, and formerly employed at the Carlton Mill and was retired from the City of Cherryville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Peter Franklin White and nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children Richard Bowman and Darrell Bowman and wife Rita, both of Cherryville, daughters Karen Bowman Goodman of Vale, Barbara Cochran of Cherryville, and Brenda Mauney of Burlington, two stepdaughters, Linda  Wise and Virginia Woodruff, seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and a sister Betty Hall of Greensboro.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Holtzclaw officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
