Glenn “Buggy” Benfield, age 87, of 111 Harrilson Road, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Carolina Care.  “Buggy” was born on September 23, 1923, the son of the late Lester and Bertie Dellinger Benfield.  He was retired from North Carolina Spinning, Lincolnton after 15 years of service in the card room.  “Buggy” was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby Bivens Walker Benfield, one brother, Hugh Benfield, and three sisters: Jane Goins, Helen Coffey and May Pope.
 
Survivors:  A daughter  and her fiancée, Carolyn Helms and Scott Beaver of Shelby. A Granddaughter: Brandy Sipe of Lincolnton.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, January, 22, 2011 with Rev. Jerry R. Lail officiating.  A private family burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10: 45 prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
