Garthur William McCraw, 91 of Fallston Waco Rd., died Sunday January 23, 2011 at his residence. He was born on August 9, 1919, in Rutherford Co a son of the late William and Emma Horton McCraw.  Garthur was retired from the US Postal service at the Charlotte Main branch. He was a member of Waco Baptist Church and a US Army veteran of WW II.
 
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Aaron McCraw.
 
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Ruth Brook McCraw, two sons Charles Terry McCraw and wife Judith of Atlanta and William McCraw and wife Susan of Shelby, five grandchildren Jennifer Bailey, Jason McCraw, Autumn McCraw, Sara McCraw, and Danielle McCraw, seven great grandchildren, sister Lorene Cash of Chesnee, SC, five brothers Leroy and Buford McCraw of Chesnee, Paul and Bud McCraw of Gaffney, and Billy McCraw of Spartanburg.
 
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at Waco Baptist Church, Waco, NC with Dr. Harold Fite and Rev. Phil Bailey officiating with burial in Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Rutherford Co., NC at 2 PM with Military Honors by Rutherford Co. Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 10-10:45 AM and at other times at the home.
