Mrs. Gaddy Sue Carpenter Tallent

Mrs. Tallent, 77 of Vale passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2010..  
She was born in Cherryville, NC on February 14, 1932, daughter of W. Cone
Carpenter, Sr. and Jane Daughetry Carpenter.  In 1952 she married Dean Tallent
and together they raised five children. Her greatest love was her family.

Her heart was broken when she was preceded in death by her husband (2006) and
grandson, Benji Lanier (2002).  She was also preceded in death by an infant
brother, Charles Carpenter.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and
sister who loved helping others. Through the years, she remained a constant
source of strength and love to her family.

She was a 1949 graduate of Cherryville High School, and a graduate of Kings
Business College.  She was employed by Crowell Memorial Hospital and Dr. Necip
Ari during her medical related career.  A member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church
since her marriage, Sue was faithful and devoted to her church and exemplified
God’s love and forgiveness throughout her life.

Survivors include her children, Renee (Rick) Lanier of Vale,  Randy (Phyllis)
Tallent of Vale,  Krista Tallent of Vale, and Kathy (Bob) Slawson  of  Vevay,
Indiana, Doug (Gena) Tallent of Whitesboro, Texas. Also left to cherish her
memory are her grandchildren, Shannon (Mike) Harris, Natasha Davison, Angie
Davison, Elle Tallent, John Dock Tallent, Logan Tallent, Layn Tallent and
Heather (Brandon) Frye.  Her great grandchildren Laken Harris, Andrew Harris,
Abagail Harris, and Jennifer Harris also survive her. 

Also included in her surviving family are her brothers:  Cone Carpenter, Jr., and Carroll Carpenter,  
and her sisters:  Doris Crawford, Jane Ann Carpenter, Shirley Hood, Elaine Neal.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Tallent has been rescheduled for 
Monday, February 1, 2010 at 3:00 PM in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. The family
will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service. Burial to
follow in church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 1156
North Brook III School Road, Vale, NC, 28168 and Hospice and Palliative Care of
Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
