Earl Eugene Matheson, 77, of 109 Misty lane, died March 11, 2009 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.
He was born on April 11, 1931 in Cleveland Co. a son of the late Harold Eugene and Bonnie Brigman Matheson. Earl was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and a retired machinist from Harris Welco in Kings Mountain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Evelyn Smith and four brothers Paul, Bill, Jack, and Marvin Matheson.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Earlene Fite Matheson, three children Harold Matheson and wife Debra of Kings Mountain, Marvin Matheson and wife Ailene of Kings Mountain and Rhonda Hager and husband Wayne of Cherryville, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, three sisters Faye Bridges of Cherryville, Mary Helen Bridges of Kings Mountain, and Della Hyder of Shelby and a brother Ray Matheson of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church at 4 PM with Rev. Greg Neely officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home of Harold and Debra Matheson, 103 Raven Dr., Kings Mountain.
