Douglas McArthur Monk, 66, of 2707 Lincolnton Highway, died January 1, 2009 at his residence. He was born on April 3, 1942 in Maynard, Texas a son of the late Ike Monk and Ellie Lee Fisher. Mr. Monk was a retired welder with Wireway Husky of Denver, NC and a veteran of the US Air Force reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He is survived by his son Hillard Monk of Waco, NC, a step daughter Tina Glover and husband Kenny of Boiling Springs, NC, grandchildren Chris, Tabatha, Brandi, Hannah, Lexi, and Michael and one great grandchild Austin, two sisters Willa Mae Monk and Bonnie Dell Monk both of Waco, Texas and a brother Floyd B. Monk, Waco, Texas.
A Memorial service will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Ledford Grove Baptist Church, Double Shoals, with the Rev. Jackie Price officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
