Donald Reid Mellon, 57, of 440 S. Main St., died Sunday April 5, 2009 at his residence.
He
was born in Cleveland Co. on October 21, 1951 a son of the late Gaston
Daniel and Bessie Corrine Porter Mellon. Donald was a member of Mt.
Zion Baptist Church and retired from McMurray Fabric.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Elizabeth Mellon.
Survived
by his wife of 40 years Ethel Bradley Mellon, son Christopher Mellon
and wife Joy, Waco, a daughter Wendy Mellon Allen, Waco, sister Linda
Campbell, Elizabethton, TN, five brothers Jerry
Mellon, Vale, Dale Mellon, Maiden, Jimmy Mellon, Granite Falls, Bill
Mellon, Conover, and Danny Mellon, Cherryville, five grandchildren,
Cameron Rann and Devin, Haley, Hannah, and Logan Allen.
Funeral
services will be held Wed. April 8, at Cone Memorial Chapel of
Carpenter’s Funeral Home at 4 PM with Rev. Wayne Key and Brother Dale
Mellon officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home Wed. from 2:30-3:45 PM and at
other times at the home.
