Donald Richard Homesley, 79, of 211 Amos Homesley, died Sunday March 14, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Gaston Co. on June 5, 1930 a son of the late Amos Pinkney and Margaret  Elizabeth Farris Homesley, Jr.  Mr. Homesley was a member of First Baptist Church, VFW, American Legion Post #100 and a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War. Don was also a charter member of the Cherryville New Year Shooter’s where he served as treasurer for many years. He was retired co-owner of the Triple H Restaurant which he operated for 49 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, James, Rob, A.P. Bynum and Stub Homesley and Annie Jonas and Nellie Homesley.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years Margie Mauney Homesley, three daughters  and sons-in-law Lori H. and Dale Gates, Caroline H. and Lance Frady, and Jennifer H. and Jon Abernethy, all of Cherryville, five grandchildren, Austin and Will Gates, Seth Frady, and Macy and Noah Abernethy and two sisters Mary Ruth Mundy of Lincolnton and Margaret Marrash of Charleston, W.Va.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
