Dennis Gerald Young, 72, of Cardinal Care Center, formerly of Dallas Cherryville Hwy., died June 16, 2009 at Lincoln Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1936 in Polk Co. a son of the late Harvey and Veral Young.
He was retired from General Tire and Rubber and was formerly employed by Dallas Prison as a guard and the Cherryville Police Dept.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Janet Carol Brown Young in 2004, granddaughter Jessica Beth Young, and two sisters Sybil White and Wilma Greene.
Survivors include his sons Scott Young and wife Karen, Lincolnton, Jeff Young of Lincolnton ,and Chad Young and wife Debbie, Cherryville, a daughter Shannon Shinn and husband Harry, Cherryville, grandson Derek Young, brother Terry Young, Cherryville, sisters Lavonda Mauney, Gastonia, and Loretta Jackson, Shelby.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. J. V. Allen officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 6-8 PM.
