D. C. DeVenny,  89, of 501 N. Elm Street, died April 27, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. D.C. was born in Cleveland  County, August 3, 1921 a son of the late Albert Leroy DeVenny and Susan Liller Whisnant DeVenny.  D. C.  was a veteran of WWII US Army Air Force and retired supervisor from Dora Yarn Mill, Cherryville after 46 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Cherryville, N. C.
 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Kevin Scott DeVenny,  a great granddaughter  Victoria Rose Jones, three brothers, Albert Blaine DeVenny, Theron DeVenny, Harlan DeVenny,  three sisters, Claudia D. McAlister and Roberta D. Allen, Dullie Mae Moss.
 
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Walker DeVenny, of the Home, a son Keith DeVenny and wife Deborah of Cherryville, daughter-in-law, Robin Seate DeVenny of Cherryville, granddaughter, Angela Jones and husband Scott, a grandson Nathaniel DeVenny, a great grandson, Braden Luke Jones, and   numerous nieces and nephews.
 
 Funeral Services will be held  April 29 , 2011 at 3:00PM in  First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Fite officiating.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church from 2:00PM to 2:45PM prior to the funeral service, burial will be in the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
 
Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 601 North Pink Street, Cherryville, N. C. 28021
