James David McSwain, Sr. 71 of 1604 Requa Road, Cherryville, NC went to see Jesus with his family by his side on November 24th, 2011.  David was born November 3rd, 1940 to the late Alvin Lee McSwain, Sr. and Lois Dellinger McSwain of Cherryville.  David retired as a dock worker from Carolina Freight Carriers with 30 years of service.  His co-workers appropriately called him “King David” because of his work performance.  He was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Secretary for 36 years, 25 years as R.A. Director and Deacon.  He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Allen McSwain, recently celebrating 50 years of marriage.  His four children, Robin M. Lingerfelt and friend Don Sigmon, Denise Burress and husband Randy, Jamie McSwain and wife Kim all of Cherryville, Kristi Williford and husband Eric of Concord, NC.  Eight grandchildren, Steven Justice and wife Ashley, Bethany Burress, Ben Burress, Loren McSwain, Holden McSwain, Kaley Williford, Trent Williford, and Brooke Williford.  Two great grandchildren, Corrigan Justice and Autum Justice.  Brother A.L. McSwain, Jr. and wife Shirley, Sisters, Margaret Sigmon and husband Richard, Martha Hendrick and friend Sam Beam all of Cherryville.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  David will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
 
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 3:00 PM  Mt. Zion Baptist Church,  with Rev. Wayne Key and Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church fellowship hall from 1:30 – 2:45 PM.
