Darris James Ramsey, age 88, of 1739 Martin Road, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at home. Darris was a naitive of Cherryville, born March 12, 1921, the son of the late Dock Boyd and Lillie Frances Strickland Ramsey. He was a mechanic for Carolina Freight Carriers, retiring with 30 years of service.. Darris was a member of First Baptist Church, Cherryville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Randall Ramsey, Great Great Grandson Braeden Bowyer, brothers, Evan Ramsey, Bobby Ramsey, sisters, Zula Beam, Eva Abernathy, Louise Fowler, & Jennie Ramsey.
Survivors: Daughter; Rita R. Bowman and husband Darrell of Kings Mountain Brother and sister in law: D. B. and Ann Ramsey of Cherryville Sister and brother in law: Margaret and Clyde Brown, of Cherryville
Grandchildren: Scott Bowman, Rod Bowman, Dana & Todd Davis
Great Grandchildren: Jennifer Bowman, Brittany Bowman, Zack Bowman, Keyla Davis, Colby Davis, T. J. & Brooke Davis Jennifer Davis

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00PM, Thursday, January 14, 2010 in the Second Baptist Church, Cherryville with Rev. Mike Staton officiating, Burial will be in the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family is at the residence and will receive friends Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
